Editing Problem - carriage returns stripped and all lines joined

I have been battling this issue for some time now. The only solution is to use the Opera or Safari browsers, which work as expected. Editing vBulletin posts or replying to a PM on Firefox or IE-11, all carriage returns are stripped leaving all text lines joined together.

Anyone have a clue? Javascript maybe?

You need to provide more details, like vb version & php version.

      vBulletin version 3.8.9 Beta 2

      PHP 5.4.34

This also occurs when replying with a quote, The quote section is CR stripped.

Also, others of my board users have encountered this phenomenon.

HOWEVER, my Firefox works fine editing on THIS board.

I found a clue: It's the WYSIWYG Editor!

vBulletin Options / Message Posting Interface Options

        Enable Clickable Message Formatting Controls
This global switch allows you to completely disable the message formatting toolbar and clickable smilies.

        Options

        Full Editor
        Quick Reply
        Quick Edit

Enable Standard & WYSIWYG Controls: strips out the carriage returns and joins all the lines.

        Enable Standard Controls: Works normally!

          Thats VBIII-12968.

You should not be running an old Beta Version.
It was an error specifically in Beta 2, fixed in Beta 3.

OK Paul, Looks like an update is in order. With one million posts, updates are nerve wracking! Patches would be nice.
Although by the above comment on vBorg, it doesn't look promising.

OK, upgraded to 3.8.9 and the GREMLIN has been discarded. I'm sorry to be a pain! Now to edit and update my phrases.

Hopefully the upgrade to 4. will go as smooth, when I get my courage up to do so. It's a one million post forum.

THANK YOU Paul M for your replies and your vBulletin expertise.

Yes, at the time he was talking about Beta 2 - as I said, it was specific to that version.
