Moving giant forum to new domain name.

    Facts:
    1. Not changing hosts or servers.
    2. Existing domain and directory where forum is located: tokiohotelamerica.net/forum (tha.net/forum going forward for brevity)
    3. Moving to tokiohotelusa.net (top level, no "forum subdirectory)
    4. Forum has over 1 million posts (not sure if that matters, just sayin')
    5. Forum is on 3.8.7, I will upgrade to four after this move.

    Questions.
    1. Help! How do I do this?

From what I have read on here, and I promise I am scouring, that I can just change the vBulletin options to the new domain and the database that was attached to tha.net/forum will now be attached to tokiohotelusa.net

    Yes? No?

1a. When I do that, if it indeed works, will thread # 4434 still be thread 4434?

    2. How do I handle all of the links within the forum that will still say "tokiohotelamerica.net/forum..... blah blah blah"
I have heard of two different ways, one is something in the htaccess file, then I read somewhere else that the database has to be scrubbed in my sql?

I apologize in advance for having more questions later.

Then after this, I get to try to move an even larger wordpress she says as she bangs her head against the wall

      OMG, you are awesome.

One thing I do not understand in the above directions:

Move your files with the new domain account or if its a add-on domain (recommended) move file to the new directory

      What files am I moving?

And I did make the new domain an add-on to the old domain name.
