help with Fatal error

I havent looked at my forum in over a year, I want to get it back up and running, it was fine a year ago but I went there today an I got
Fatal error: Call-time pass-by-reference has been removed; If you would like to pass argument by reference, modify the declaration of WWU002promoteUser(). in /home/djjeffa/djjeffa.com/vb/global.php(400) : eval()'d code on line 377
Any advice on how to trouble shoot this?

That error is from a modification. Try disabling your modifications/plugins and see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit includes/config.php and add this line right under <?php

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);
