    mySQL 28 error

I've been getting a lot of mySQL 28 errors and have my admins clear out the cache.

Can a cron job be set up to empty this temporary section? Or could that cause other problems?

The admins did the following and said this should fix the problem from now on.

"the error occurred as the /tmp was full. The eaccelerator path was set to the /tmp and this was taking so much space. I have set the eaccelerator cache path to /home/eaccelerator and this will free enough space in /tmp."

It sounds like they have taken care of the problem.

There is no method in vbulletin to clear out /tmp directories.

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

What about using a cron job to delete those files every so often?

You could try to create one but it is not supported.

When you say it's not supported what do you mean?
Basically one has to check on the size every so often and delete it?

eaccelerator is not part of vbulletin- I don't know what you may need to do as a result of using it. vBulletin does not require emptying temp directories. Not supported means we can't help you make such a cron script.

Your webhost doesn't have their server/server software configured correctly and are causing problems. You shouldn't have to do anything assuming you're not renting a vps/vds/dedicated server and are just on shared hosting.

I own my server and have admins that take care of it monthly.

I don't understand about Vbulletin doesn't requiring emptying /tmp directories which is error 23? There are a lot of complaints regarding this issue. So does this have anyhting to do with the server software?

Anyway I now have the following error:

Invalid SQL: SELECT blockid, bkey, title, limited, refresh, templates, url, position, content, lastupdate, link, modulename FROM vbp_block WHERE active > 0 ORDER BY active;MySQL Error : MySQL server has gone awayError Number : 2006How is this fixed? Thanks

MySQL error 28 indicates mysql is unable to save data on the server itself. Its not a vBulletin error. Something you need to takeup with your webhost.

MySQL going away during a connection, is also an issue with the mysql server.
