Can I Delete All Incoming & Outgoing Linkbacks Without Effecting SEO?

We have been getting hammered with spambots from every angle.

We have hundreds of pages of both incoming and outgoing linkbacks, at least half of them are from the spambots.

If we delete all of them, will that do anything to our SEO?

If I delete them all, will that reduce the amount of spambot activity, since they will not be targeting the same pinged threads over and over?

Thank you so very much for your valuable time, energy and support.

If you delete all incoming and outgoing links, it will affect your SEO.

If you delete spam, it will probably improve your SEO because the quality of your site is determined by the quality of the links coming in and out of it.

Are you sure deleting all incoming and outgoing linkbacks will effect my SEO?

I was told that linkbacks had no effect on SEO anymore, are you 420% positive?

I have about a thousand pages of incoming and outgoing linkbacks and think they are the culprit behind the massive spambot attacks.

Any advice or more detailed feedback to help me further my investigation?

Also, is there any way to disable linkbacks and if so, will that effect my SEO?

        Thank you.

Well having people link to your site is how you gather rank and determines your ranking in the search engines. Deleting all links to your site will get rid of that. Your version of vBulletin doesn't support linkbacks like a blog does. That is only part of the blog addon.

If you have spam links on your site, you should delete them. Pure and simple.
