Cookie settings for TWO forums on ONE domain?

    okay, here's the deal.

i have a vb 3.x forum running just fine for last 5 years on forums.mydomain.com (using example domain)

the path to save cookies is the default /
    the coockie domain is (blank)

    all is good.

    but now,
i wish to make another separate vb 3.x forum on forums2.mydomain.com

as such, what will/should the settings be for that? will i have to make sure i select the subdomain paths?
will i leave the 1st one as is, or also change that one too, to the specific subdomain one?

please vb staff answer clearly and in detail, not vaguely.

ps: the email i use to let the current forum notify me of things (ie: new members). can i use the same one on the 2nd forum, or should i use a different one? so that would also mean that email will be the same for both config.php files.

let's get this answered, shall we? or do 3.x posts get discriminated against? is this where i shout that i just purchased a 5 connect full license? maybe i make this post again in the 5 section, where i assume support is still answering? i would guess the coockie settings remain the same.

You should change the cookie prefix in your config.php file(s), depending on the version your on. Its the easiest way to get multiple forums working.

ah, 24 hour is it? okay.. i get very nervous and agitated if there are no replies, soon after making a post.

i guess telling me exactly what to do is considered priority support. no, sorry, i won't pay $95 per "indident". this should be explained in the forum setting itself, but with examples like i just gave. (below) there is some explanation, but that just tells me exactly the situation i am going to be in. ie: two forums on same domain. though on separate subdomains. it would be good, and i probably wouldn't have to ask, if s clear example of what to do when two sites are used was shown on the already exisitng help explanation in the admiccp. literally just give two unique examples. but, no...

if i had to think about it i gues i would have options, like:
      old forum and new combo

      a)

old forum settings stay as are:
the path to save cookies is the default /
      the coockie domain is (blank)

      new forum should use:
the path to save cookies is the default /forums2.mydomain.com/
      the coockie domain is .forums2.mydomain.com

      b)

old forum settings stay as are:
the path to save cookies is the default /
      the coockie domain is (blank)

      new forum should use:
the path to save cookies is the default /
      the coockie domain is (blank)

because they are using different subdomains? ..and as such not on "same" domain..

      c)

      old forum settings change to:
the path to save cookies is the default /forums.mydomain.com/
      the coockie domain is .forums.mydomain.com

      new forum should use:
the path to save cookies is the default /forums2.mydomain.com/
      the coockie domain is .forums2.mydomain.com

can a user help me? can you tell me, using the above domain names, exactly what each config.php shuld look like? i mean just the cookie portion.

Just change the cookie prefix, NOTHING else.

The new board, just change the prefix from bb to vb
