May I also highly recommend that you backup your forum? You should never, under any condition, "lose 6 years of work" - you need to be backing up and confirming backups of your database. Hardware fails.

You broke my forum!
Unreal, running commands that you don't know what they do. Bridges are everywhere, but that doesn't mean you should jump off them because there us no sign saying not to.
You made the mistake, not vB software.

I gotta admit i don't usually jump on the band wagon but in this case....I understand the OP's feelings as there are no instructions to or not to use that feature and by the same rule if you have gone dedicated you need at least a smattering of server savvy, the simple fact that /temp was completely filled was bad server management on both the OP's and Hosts behalf, i have used that feature in admincp maybe a dozen times in the 3 years i've owned a license with no issue whatsoever, so i have to agree with the above........Stand up and be counted for your shortfalls!Comment

Indeed if the usage of that option is at risk there should be at least a warning. And there is no warning, so you shouldn't blame the customer if he use this option. Just my 2 cents.
But sure, a backup is always a cool and useful idea. And also no need for getting rude.Last edited by Ramsesx; Wed 31 Aug '11, 11:14am........Comment

Geez - Repair/Optimize does not 'break' a good database on a well-managed server. At the very most, it would uncover a previously hidden problem with that database or server. Blaming vB Support for this is absurd.Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)

VB should try being a bit more understanding - this software used to be much more beginner friendly than it is now.Comment

That facility has been there for over 7 years that I know of, probably longer, so why would it suddenly need a warning now ?Baby, I was born this wayComment

It's almost like running commands in SSH really. If you don't know what it does, you shouldn't use it, at least not until you've done further research on it or asked somebody about it"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time!"

Actually, here's an idea... maybe make it so that option only shows when the site is in debug mode? Much like how rebuild bitfields, etc does the same thing"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time!"

These suggestions should be posted in JIRA. As the original issue is resolved and we're completely off track here, I am going to close the thread.Translations provided by Google.
