GD does resize pictures if installed correctly.
As for ImageMagick, you should post in the Server Configuration forum for help installing that correctly.

Upgrade to php 5.3.6 ImageMagick 6.2.8 makes image upload impossible on 3.8.5 forum
I have just suffer an upgrade on my server (as mention in title) and Image magick6 stopped working.
Other file upload is possible except images. Error received when uploading an image is: This is not a valid image file.
I have checked with my host and path is set up correct and ImageMagick is working.
GD is working but unfortunately it can't resize pictures automatically (I have not so technical users) so I want to have ImageMagick working.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
