BB Code for links and images

I have set the user group for new members to not allow links in posts but I would like to allow BB Code for images. Unfortunately, if you attempt to show an image the message comes up saying that links and images are not allowed. Can I do anything about this or is the simple fact that an image is a referenced link the problem?

If they're linking to an external image, then it's a link - the image BBCode will simply read it as an image link and show the image rather than a text link
