Error After Changing a Member's Name

So I recently upgraded to 3.8.7...after the upgrade I went in and changed a member's name. Now when I click on the member's name, I get this error when attempting to view their profile:

This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile to view

Any thoughts as to what the problem is?

I tried rebuilding member profiles as well as member's names within the admincp, however, no luck?
