As part of side project on the same server, I read out the $username = $vbulletin->userinfo['username']; variable as returned by the global.php. This worked fine until we upgraded from 3.8.3 to 3.8.5. After 15 minutes of forum inactivity, the side script will read the variable as empty, while if one refreshed the page on the forums, one is still logged in (when chosen to stay logged in). Did something change to the global.php script which may cause this or could there be some other issue? Thanks in advance.

This should always have been the case as it should be using the timeout values set in AdminCP -
If you browse it should extend the session .. since my upgrade to 3.8.5 from 3.8.4 we've got this problem ... a lot. Some days we get logged out every other time we open a new tab in the browser, sometimes it seems to be ok for a few days. Everybody has started complaining about it. Quite annoying.Comment

I've got the same problem. My side scripts use the vB login and now my users are appearing as not being logged in, despite still be logged in. Any fixes for this?Comment

Yup, sounds exactly like the problem I'm having. So it's a problem with the new salt is that what I can gather? Someone mentions there is a salt refreshing script? Do I need to run that?Comment

by PaceyUKHi,
Every time I visit my forum I'm logged out. Have I just missed a setting or is this an issue?
I'm ticking the remember me box every time I login.
