    How to prevent spam?

My forum keeps getting spammed with casino/gambling posts. What is the simplest way to halt this?

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

I'm getting tons of casino spam, too...

      Here's what they're doing...

They are JUST adding their casino website to their "Home Page URL" section when they click "Edit Details"...

No visitor messages...No posts or threads...JUST adding the URL of their crap....Then they walk away...

I've banned these in the last couple of days...

Different IPs for every single one of them...Looked up a few and see they're all across the globe (Japan, Germany, Newark, NJ...etc)...No consistancy on the emails either...Most are yahoo with a few gmails and aols thrown in...

It's as if there's some "service" out there where people are getting paid to cruise forums and place their websites in the Home Page URL...

I looked for a way to start a new usergroup (Newly Registered) with no permission to add anything to the "Home Page URL" section until they have a post or two and get promoted to "Registered Users", but I don't see that option...Wouldn't know if it would work anyway...Since they appear to be human, they'd just add it to the Visitor Messages or create a post...Which is worse...

A better way would be to find who's doing this and beat them unmercifully until death, give them CPR and bring them back to life, and then beat on them again...

I use Q and A to prevent automated bots and it has been working great for a while until very recently.

I also would like to remove the "Home Page URL" section when they click "Edit Details".

If there is no option to disable it in the admin CP, can this be done with a template edit
(ideally with a template conditional to hide this field from certain user groups ) ?
