I have a forum set up in 3.8.2 with a bunch of sub-forums. (I guess that's what you'd call them?) Let's say I have A, with 1, 2, 3 forums under it; then B, with 1, 2, 3, 4 forums under it; then C, with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 forums in it.
I'd like to make forum B pretty much invisible to the general public; same for its 1, 2, 3, and 4 sub-forums (or whatever you call them). I'd like for only five members to be able to read B and be able to post in it.
What is the best way to do that, please? I gather that there are two main ways - either password-protect it or create a new usergroup and restrict it to just that group.
I've read such instructions as I've been able to find, and the sole effect is that I feel cranky and a little desperate.
Can someone just please tell me what is a nice, efficient, easy way to make B (along with 1, 2, 3, and 4) visible to just five members, and to give only those five members the ability to post in it??
To anyone who helps me with this, I do thank you. Reading vBulletin instructions always makes me feel like I was born on another planet and that I wish I had never left home.
