Avatars not resizing?

I've just changed the avatar settings for every user group to 50x50 coming from 80x80 pixels. However, the forum doesn't accept this change and all avatars still are 80x80 pixels, even after a rebuild of the custom and normal avatars.

How can I make sure all current avatars are 50x50?

Sorry for the bump but does anyone have an idea? I need this to implement my avatars in the site design.
