    Table 'post' is marked as crashed and should be repaired

    I am getting these fairly often now. I shutdown the forums and do the repairs and they go away for a few days and back again. I have around 7M posts. Any words as to what I should do?

      Have you done an optimise as well as a repair?

      REPAIR TABLE post;
      OPTIMIZE TABLE post;

          Hmm well that should crack it...

          if it's still happening, do you have any modifications installed? if so try disabling them one by one to see if any of them are causing this.

            Try speaking to your host - your should not be getting crashes that often.

              Thanks all for your answers.
              Paul, I am the host. This is a dedicated machine. Its dual quad core CPU, 6GB ram, (3) 146GB SCSI in raid config. The server is fairly capable of handling the load. what I have noticed is that sometimes the load index spikes to like 50 or 60 for 10-15 mins and then it goes back to normal 2-3. Physical free memory stays around 2-3GB but swap is heavily used. If RAM is available, less swap should be used, right?

              I can provide any more stats if someone is willing to look into this strange behavior. I have been running this board for 10+ years and this is the first of this kind of problem.
