How do I add my own copyright text/html below vBulletin's copyright?

Question: I put an XHTML line break tag ( < br / > without the spaces) before my custom copyright text in order to space it out from the vBulletin copyright. For some reason, though, sometimes there's a line break when viewing the forum, and sometimes there's not. Why is that? I've got my copyright in its own div (with its width specifically set). Would that cause this error?
