    Changing "Powered by vBulletin"

    Hi there,

I hope this is an easy fix but I cannot seem to find out how to change "Powered by vBulletin."

I have changed the meta tags and description, but how do I change this so that I can add my own message?

    Thanks in advance.

ForumHome template, between the title tags.... just remove it all and custom write your homepage title.

Forum Display template, remove the - $vboptions[bbtitle] to only display the actual pages specific title.

Show Thread template, remove the - $vboptions[bbtitle] as well... to only display the threads actual title.

Really a here nor there thing... each to their own type adjustments really. I manually change these and more so that users and search engines only see specific and relevant content as much as possible.

Every time I put my own words in place of [x_Powered_By_Vbulletin] I either get an error, or if I Replace only Powered by vbulletin with my words and leave the _ and [] it shows nothing.

You need to get a Branding Free license to do that.

Jump... you can remove the title tag vbulletin aspects... ie. remove it all and rewrite it. You cannot remove, the footer "Powered by vBulletin" and copyright details without a branding free license. This is my understanding of the licensing, which states; "All Software copyright notices within design templates must remain unchanged (and visible)."

The title tag "Powered by vBulletin" is not a copyright notice. If you remove the copyright under the licensing arrangements, it warns you before doing so, and at a guess, would likely notify Jelsoft.

Again... unless you want your software shutdown, you cannot remove the footer code that I am aware, even the "Powered by vBulletin" part. I believe that falls under the copyright licensing.

Probably I have not correctly understood the author of a theme, but he asked not how to remove, and how to change a copyright. For example, to add the inscription. That does not contradict the license agreement.

Actually, removing it from the footer copyright statement is a breach of the EULA.

From an email I received the other day:
                          Greetings

It has come to our attention that part of the legally-required vBulletin copyright information has been removed or hidden from the footer template of your forum and as such contravenes the vBulletin License Agreement. You can read the License Agreement here:

                          http://www.vbulletin.com/order/license_agreement.php

The footer template must contain, at least, the following, it must be in English, and it must be readily visible:

                          Powered by vBulletin
Copyright © 2000-2009 Jelsoft Enterprises Limited.

Please restore the Powered by vBulletin.

If you do not wish to display the vBulletin copyright information, you may opt to purchase the Branding Free option. The 'Branding Free' license is available at a cost of $170 per license and only applies to a single site/license. You can purchase this in the 'Upgrade/Renew License' link in the Members Area.

Once you have purchased this option, you will have the right to remove the vBulletin/Jelsoft copyright info from the footer template. Note that this is for one license only and is in addition to the cost of the license. If you ever transfer this license, the branding free option will transfer with it.

Also please be aware that you must retain all copyright notices within the actual product programming code (these notices do not affect any visible vBulletin pages) and this does not allow you to re-brand the software with another name. It only allows you to remove the Jelsoft/vBulletin copyright information.

(You may remove the logo and replace it with your own without purchasing the branding free option, but not the copyright information.)

Please take action to rectify the infringement within 28 days in order that the way forward can be determined. Please note that addressing the matter will prevent the possibility of the license being revoked, following which a new license will be necessary to continue running your vBulletin. In this eventuality, appropriate action may be taken by our copyright enforcement agency in accordance with DMCA rules. Thank you for taking care of this promptly.

                          All the best,

                            Thanks,

I'm referring to the TITLE tag at the top, not the footer.

If I wanted to remove the footer I could do that too because I purchased the software and am not leasing it, but I only want to edit the title at the top of the browser.

Why would you pay $100.00 a year to lease it when you can own it for $180?

After two years of leasing you would actually lose money.

                            Thanks for you help...greatly appreciated.

Looks like you have your issue solved Jump, but I have to comment (off topic):

SWEET SITE. I've got a few hundred jumps under my belt, but have given it up. FEMA confiscated two chutes and about $5000 worth of rescue provisions after a gear jump I made after Katrina in an effort to rescue some flood victims. Evidently my help was deemed a "hazard" because I didn't have a federal permit to do it. All I did was drop a raft, essential first aid and swiftwater rescue gear, and myself, into a flooded plain right outside of New Orleans. I proceed to go pull people off roofs and get them back to solid ground, but I was ruled a hazard and investigated as being a potential looter. I've never put fast air under my armpits since then.

I'll certainly post a link to your site to some friends of mine who still enjoy the wabbly face.
Anybody who says "it can't be done" will usually be interrupted by somebody who is already doing it.
