36+ Hours of the same problem...help! :( Many others had same issue...

Step 2) Connect to the database
    Attempting to attach to database
Error description: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) D:\Hosting\4480376\html\Forum\includes\class_core. php on line 311
The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in the 'includes/config.php' file.

I know about most of the common fix's but they are not working for me. I have checked my database (even created a brand new one and tried), user and password. Everything with that is correct. I placed them to the right of the equal sign. I use GoDaddy.com if that helps anyone.

Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I have been up for a little over 36 hours trying to fix this problem, and still nothing. I called GoDaddy, they were no help and stated it was the program (vBulletin) problem, not GoDaddy.com...

    Thank You...

    Also...

I did buy the license from here already, so I am not trying a free one, nor anything illegal, just would like to point that out.

GoDaddy's servers are NOT localhost for MySQL.
There's a special host (eg: mysql512.secureserver.net) that you need to set as the mysql hostname.

        Sorry for the double post...

Hmm, so I should not have that. Do you know what I would use or where I would find it?

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

And that is why I really got tired of godaddy, the do things in an unconventional manner.

Sorry, I've never setup anything but static content on a godaddy account (no databases), I'm sure others with more knowledge will be by soon.

Thank you for the information! I think it will work

I am just trying to figure out the URL I put up to get the Bulletin to start up again, I forget it...the one with install/install.php. Anyone remember?

                Sorry, but thanks!

It worked!!! I must say, that was amazing! You MUST change the local...this is amazing...I was up for over 36 hours figuring this out, got no where.

                  You are all amazing...thank you

                  Step 13) Install Complete
You have now successfully installed vBulletin 3.

YOU MUST DELETE THE FOLLOWING FILES BEFORE CONTINUING:
                  install/install.php

                  Woohoo!

There will be a subdirectory called "install".
/install/install.php is the file that needs deleting.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but maybe some sleep would be a good thing?

You should post your own thread for help. It's hard to follow several users in one thread all needing a different type of help.
