    Problem with Login Redirect

    Hi Support.

When I login to the forums portion of my website, I'm greeted with these two errors:

"The Requester URL forums/forums.php was not found on this server."

"Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an error document to handle the request."

    My forum website is:

The error page upon login is:

If I manually return to www.hartford15.com/forums I find myself logged in without a problem.

    Help?

What value do you have in:

AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Site Name / URL / Contact Details >
    Forum URL?

If you have http://www.hartford15.com/forums/forums.php in there, change it to http://www.hartford15.com/forums/

No -- forum URL is set to:

Do you think it could have something to do with my login.php?

I downloaded it to play with it, but don't dare reupload it!

Has the STANDARD_REDIRECT template been modified at all? If not, all I can suggest is to upload all non-image files again in ASCII mode then create a new style with no parent and see if you still have the problem.

Also, have you installed any modifications to your forums?

I installed and uninstalled VBAdvanced, but I'm 99% sure I removed all related files.

Don't have vbA so can't comment on it but I've a feeling that forums.php is a file from there? If so, then a template edit or setting is still being picked up to direct to that URL.

Try this from my previous post:

"create a new style with no parent and see if you still have the problem."

First, thanks for being so patient and helpful.

I created a new style, no parent, and the problem persists. I also reset the STANDARD_REDIRECT file (in both styles!), and still nothing.

If I begin removing some files from my server and reuploading those files, am I going to kill VB? Would it be easier to just reinstall VB wholesale?

FWIW, my site is still very much in pre-production. I've done a lot of work customizing the software, but I won't lose anything that can't be recreated (though, obviously I'd prefer not to do the work twice).

                Just to complicate things:

When I login the first time, it redirects me properly to my forums page.

But if I log out and attempt to log back in -- that's when I get the 404 error and the elongated web address.

Any other ideas? I'm thinking I'm going to nuke my install and start over ...

Hope you've only been making changes to templates and CSS?

Have you tried re-uploading the original vB files overwriting what's on your server? You can safely remove everything then upload them all 'clean' again without having to go through any installation procedures.

Just reuploaded all files, but the error persists. That said, I've narrowed it further!

The error only seems to occur from the "logout page" of VB. If I choose to logout (I click OK on the pop-up window after clicking "log out"), it takes me to a logout page that says "All cookies cleared!" I only get the error when trying to log in from this particular page. This is reinforced by the fact that when I click on the link to my forums on that specific page, it brings me back to the wrong link -- (www.hartford15.com/forums/forums.php).

I can login to the forum appropriately from elsewhere in VB.

Is it possible I have one corrupt page (the logout page)?

What have you got in the following setting:

AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Forums Home Page Options >

                        "forums"

                        I suspect that's not helpful?

This tells vB that your index.php has been renamed to forums.php. It's likely you changed that vor vBAdvanced. But there obviously is no forums.php in your forum root folder, so you get an 404 file not found error. Change that setting from forum to index, and it will probably work.

                            I love you both.

I've been on a lot of support sites in my short 32 years (as you can probably tell!) and it's rare to find patience, clarity and helpful advice.

Dunno if you folks get paid to do this, but you should -- my problem is fixed!

Thanks, and hopefully I never come back!
