URLs not clickable

Hi,
On another board I visit I noticed that when I post a link (url address) the link is not clickable. In order to go to the url you need to copy and paste it into your browser address area in order to go to the link. BB code is on, but links still appear like this.

BB code is On
Smilies are On
[IMG] code is Off
HTML code is Off

What needs to be changed in order to get the url links to work?

So this is on another board, not your own? They probably have a modification installed.

I'm going to assume that they do not, because they just installed the VB software and I offered up my services to assist (if required), and they haven't installed anything extra as far as I know.

I'm pretty sure this is a setting that I can't find. I do not think it's a security risk to have you links clickable is it?

I am not aware of any vBulletin setting that disables only URL bbcode. I've only seen modifications that do this. Perhaps they have bbcode disabled for the Usergroup you're in, but enabled for the forum in general.

Thanks, but it doesn't make sense to me. Because what I see is:

BB code is On
Smilies are On
[IMG] code is Off
HTML code is Off

Which tells me that bb code is on for me and the usergroup I'm in. All users are having this problem and not just me.

I just tested this. I turned the Registered Users usergroup "Allow BB Code" to "No" and logged in. It still showed the "BB code is On" because it is turned on for the forum.

Okay, I just went through everything and cannot find a setting for this. The only place for this is in the Forum Manager where the bb code feature can be enabled/disabled. There is no individual setting for URL bb code and so on. Other then that, the only thing I can think of is some sort of modification.

I believe you will find that the code to show "clickable links" is located in the class_bbcode.php file.

The "original" code is:

// standard URL hyperlink
return "<a href=\"$rightlink\" target=\"_blank\">$text</a>";

On our Forum, we have modified the code to do a check whether the "link" is to something on our own server, and, if it is, allow a "clickable" link.

If it finds that the link is NOT to an address on our our own server, it changes the coding to simply add italics and underlining for those external links, but, without the original code (above) it will NOT be "clickable".

Fairly straight forward, really. And no, I wasn't the one who coded it.
