How do I upgrade the license?

I have a vBulletin forum I have been running for a while that my friend set up using his vBulletin license but now I'm wanting to set the forum up on my own license - how do I update the forum with the new license?

    The forum is http://www.inlandr.com/

    Thanks!

Well his old license will have the URL set, and my new license will have the same URL, so... Is there nothing else that needs to be done?

        Is it a leased licence?

          Both licenses are owned licenses.

Both owned licences pointing to the same URL?
IMO it should not be a problem.

I wouldn't think it would be an issue except for maybe when it asks for a customer number? I'm not entirely sure I just want to make sure I won't have any issues

Ok - I have been running a forum for a long time and my friend was providing the license. Well he's been moving on from the forum and is doing other things and I've not been able to get in touch with him - the license was coming up for renewal but it's not listed under my client account at vBulletin so I just ordered a new owned license of my own.

Do I need to do anything to switch the forum from his license to my own? It's been my site all along but he was providing the license and now I would like to use my own license.

In many pieces of software you can edit a config.php etc... and change $license='yourlicensehere' to update what license your software uses but I cannot seem to find any way to do this with vBulletin.

It may be that your system is fully automatic and no change needs to be made.

Make sure the forum URL is set correctly in the Members Area, and upload the files for your license, replacing his files.

Since the forum has been in use for quite some time and I am not sure what modifications have been made and where they have been made (it's been a while) is there a certain portion of the upload folder I should upload or do I *have* to refresh the entire install - and will mods be affected by re-uploading the base files?

You need to upload all the vB non-image files for your license.

Ok, thank you - I will do this as soon as I get the chance.

Why don't you ask your friend to sell you the initial license??
