core files?

    core files?

    Hi all,
    i don't know if this files are related to my vbulletin 3.81, if no, move this post in an appropriate section.

    I have 3 files (17MB each) called "core" with a number like estension however:
    core.31522
    core.730
    core.32554
    (is not this the true numbers).....

    AnyBody have a idea what are this and what are doing on my server?
    (Now i can't download these files because in this moment i'm on a slow connection dial-up).

    Please help me

    Here is an explanation of core dump files:



    "A core dump is the recorded state of the working memory of a computer program at a specific time, generally when the program has terminated abnormally (crashed)"

      Those core files are the result of a server crash. I think it has to do with Apache crashing. You can delete those files unless you need them for debugging purposes.

        I'm on a litespeed
        for now i don't want to delete it, when i replace my fast connection, i want to read what is the problem.... (but the date of creation is December 2008)
