    wierd quick search question

    Is there a way to disable or remove quick search from the search dropdown so users have to use the advanced search?

      That is possible by editing this template:

      Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> « » -> Navigation / Breadcrumb Templates -> navbar

      This requires some HTML ability.
