    RSS Reader Goofs

I use the Word of the Day RSS feed, and the description for today's word is like this
sentinel: a person who watches out
    <p><a href="http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~a/4U7sI4xgo0dacXu_VXZjnOVBCKk/a"><img src="http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~a/4U7sI4xgo0dacXu_VXZjnOVBCKk/i" border="0" ismap="true"></img></a></p><img src="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/DictionarycomWordOfTheDay/~4/j-taTtk5KwA" height="1" width="1"/>
However, even though I have "Convert HTML to BB Code" turned on, it ignores the < and > and posts out this
    sentinel: a person who watches out pa href="http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~a/4U7sI4xgo0dacXu_VXZjnOVBCKk/a"img src="http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~a/4U7sI4xgo0dacXu_VXZjnOVBCKk/i" border="0" ismap="true"/img/a/pimg src="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/DictionarycomWordOfTheDay/~4/j-taTtk5KwA" height="1" width="1"/
Is there some way I can fix how this spits out, or is this something only the feed provider could fix, by removing that?

    Thanks!

What settings are you using? I just tested this feed - http://wordsmith.org/awad/rss1.xml and it was fine using Convert HTML to BBCode - Yes and the default settings for the templates. I do not have html enabled in my forums at all.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

I have all the default settings for the feed.

I don't use that one, actually, I use this feed.

I don't know that that is a valid feed. If you click on the little RSS icon, you get this feed - http://feeds.reference.com/DictionarycomWordOfTheDay?format=xml

(That one comes with links to ads. I'd suggest the one that I posted.)

I switched over to yours, and have the same problem.
          sequacious: having a sequence; followingpa href="http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~a/nijkOf41_9BOJrniLg3zfd9zzL4/a"img src="http://feedads.googleadservices.com/~a/nijkOf41_9BOJrniLg3zfd9zzL4/i" border="0" ismap="true"/img/a/pimg src="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/DictionarycomWordOfTheDay/~4/vAaoCFqbKNs" height="1" width="1"/

The problem seems to be that it isn't converting the HTML properly.

I also use the XKCD feed, and that spits out
img src="http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/simultaneous.png" title="I'm leaving you for your twin. He's more mature than you by now." alt="I'm leaving you for your twin. He's more mature than you by now." /

So yeah... I don't really know what's wrong.

The strange thing is that the APOD feed works fine.
What is that strange dark ribbon on the sky?

(Edit: So I guess we can't have pictures...but the APOD one shows a picture)

Turn off you plugins and see if you still have the problem. When I use the feed I recommended, I get no images. You have something (a modification) that is trying to add images into the posts and thus causing the problem.
