Why do social groups look different than a forum

I'm just tuning in to social groups.

I don't understand why social group posts look different than a forum post. What's the point? Why have a different interface.

Seems to me that social groups are really nothing more than a user created forum that people can join/subscribe to.

    What am I missing?

Social Groups discussions looks much better than in the forum.

By the way, they have not their own albums, sadly, only userlinked pictures which is very unprofessional made. SG must have their own picture upload fields and albums.

Yeah, albums are extra, but that could have been added on top of the forum.

There's no way to respond/quote a message like in the forum. Why's that? A discussion is a discussion.

        Oh well.

I'm hoping the interface will be COMPLETELY revamped for 4.0. I hope I can wait that long. The current VB is feeling ever so dated.
