Anyway of getting rid of spam bots?

Every single minute of the day I get bots registering, then a few hours later they all spam and even more when admins are offline.

I've tried to make it so you need to vertify emails and be approved by admins but so far they managed to bypass it.

each one has different ips and when i try to find host name it comes with "could not find hostname"

After reading the link that Wayne Luke posted, I read it. Great information...thank you! I have a question regarding 2 verification options. If the question/ answer verification option is enabled (which I have it set to), will that be the only verification test that registering members must pass or can I still have image/ CAPTCHA verification simultaneously with the question/ answer verification?

This really needs to be a feature request then, cause I figured we could use reCaptcha AND a text question. I guess for now you can use a plugin or addon at vBulletin.org to add a question-based captcha in addition to reCaptcha.

Anyway, I allow new members to post BUT those posts are moderated.

Actually you can do that now with Profile Fields. See item 6 in Post #1:
