When users upload them they come up with an big X, how can I get this fixed?

and People are uploading them via the file upload bit and the direct way by pasting the site url to the image from an uploader site.

still the same problem.

right click the red x and see where the files are being displayed from?

I remember a post a while back where the forum was on a subdomain and hotlinking was not allowed by either cpanel or httaccess and it gave a simular issue.

I can not remember what thread though.
