Upgrading from 3.8.0 to 3.8.4 level 2. database error!

This is my 1st upgrade and I have an issue now.

Upgrading from 3.8.0 to 3.8.4 patch level 2.

I changed the folder name from "upload" to "forums".

I took out the "install/install.php" file as instructed before uploading.

After uploading all files, I renamed the existing config.php to config.php.old and renamed the new config.php.new to config.php.

I then opened that file in a text editor, although the instructions didn't say why.

I then went to the next step and did the: http://www.example.com/forum/install/upgrade.php

However, once I did that, I immediately got the below data base error.

SO....now I'm stuck and don't know what to do to get this operational. I didn't get to the log in screen. I'm assuming I need to change some type of permissions/user to the mysql database?

    Help please!

Check your configuration on includes/config.php file?
you can use your old config.php file with 3.8.4

      Thank you. You're a genius!

I see now why I needed to open up that config.php file. So I could put in my old information!!

Many thanks, all is updated now.
