Reinstall/upgrade or just copy vBulletin files that have Google Adsense integration??

I have connected my Adsense account with vBulletin. All I need to do is getting the vBulletin software WITH Adsense Integration version on my forum.

Do I have to install the package all over again? Do I have to "upgrade" to the version with Adsense? Or do I just have to copy the files and that's it?

I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

    Thanks in advance!

You would need to run the full upgrade.

      No, you wouldn't.

Uploading the new files is what's needed.

After you've associated your account, redownload vBulletin and then upload the following files:

        /admincp/deployads.php
        /includes/adsense_templates.php
        /includes/init.php
        /includes/xml/cpnav_ads.xml

If you need all the steps to implement adsense on your site here you go:

Here is how to integrate vBulletin and Google AdSense. If you do not have a Google AdSense account, you will need to apply for one at http://adsense.google.com (and have your application approved by Google) before proceeding with these instructions.

        1) Go to http://members.vbulletin.com/adsense.php

        2) Enter the requested information.

        3) Log into your Google AdSense account at http://adsense.google.com

        4) Click the 'Review account access' link.

        5) Click the 'grant access' link for vBulletin.

        6) Check that your status is Fully Activated at http://members.vbulletin.com/adsense.php

        7) If your status is Fully Activated, then download vBulletin at http://members.vbulletin.com/ but if your status is not activated, then double check steps 1 through 6.

        8) Install/upgrade vBulletin on your server as usual, and after logging into your administrator's control panel, you will see an Advertising block in the left-hand navigation panel.

Note: If you installed/upgraded vBulletin before doing steps 1 through 7, then do steps 1 through 7 (skip step 8) and in place of step 8, FTP the following four files in ASCII mode to your server from the new download:

        /admincp/deployads.php
        /includes/adsense_templates.php
        /includes/init.php
        /includes/xml/cpnav_ads.xml

If you do not see the Advertising block in the left-hand navigation panel after doing everything correctly, hard refresh your vB Admin CP page (or log out of the Admin CP and then log back in).

More information about Google AdSense integration can be found at http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/adsense_integration

Note: You also may need to make sure you have this permission set for your Admin account:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Administrator Permissions -> Can Administer Ads -> Yes
        Translations provided by Google.

Wauw thank you very much! I recently acquired a vB forum and its the first time I am managing a forum ever. So I don't have much experience with vB yet as you have probably noticed but I am absolutely satisfied about vBulletin so far. I thank vBulletin and you all for that!

Just to be sure: my Adsense account is fully activated and I have 3.8.7 PL3 installed without Adsense integration. If I understood you correctly I should "upgrade" to the vB version with Adsense by uploading the vB Adsense version and hitting after that www.mydomain.com/forums/install/upgrade.php right??

My forum uses a lot of customization in its Style/Templates. Will an upgrade to this vBulletin Adsense integration version ruin my Style/Templates??

No. It will add a new menu to your AdminCP, and give you the ability to use the Advertising system to auto-insert ads into various sections of your vBulletin forum.

It does not touch the database.

Hey! That means I don't even have to switch of my forum right?

                    Pretty much.

None of those files would interfere with any of the front-end stuff, so yeah.

*edit* Oh. init.php. That one will, but only in the few seconds it's uploading.

Nope, and any errors that occur would occur if the site was turned off anyway.

                        Your site'll be fine.
