Can you try re-downloading the ZIP file from the Members Area and re-upload all files (except install/install.php and includes/config.php.new) making sure you overwrite all files currently on your server.

      Does this resolve the problem?

When in the Members Area, click on the link to download version 3.x instead of version 4.x

When someone here talks about FTP, it's either:

                      - a standaline piece of software such as Filezilla that connects to your server to allow you upload files or
                      - File Manager within your hosting Control Panel (cPanel/Plesk etc)
