upgrading from 3.8.2 to 3.8.5

Can I upgrade my VB from 3.8.2 to 3.8.5 directly, without upgrading before to 3.8.4 ?

Uploading the 3.8.5 files will take you though all of the verisons you missed. So yes you can upgrade directly to 3.8.5.

I tried that... twice, but both times, after the update I get a message in the control panel that I am on 3.8.4 PL2!

Did you make sure that you upload the correct files for 3.8.5? I upgraded mine without any problems ...

I tried it twice and checked the files version too! Still the same!

Double-check that you downloaded the 3.8.5 file, and not the 3.8.4PL2 file. For several hours after 3.8.5 was released, the default download (usually the latest version) was still 3.8.4PL2, and one had to manually select "download another version" -> "3.8.5" to get the proper upgrade file.
