    Hosting Database Remotely

    Hello,

I am very new to this, so please bear with me. I am installing vBulletin 3.8.4 but my host does not support MySQL. So they setup a seperate server for me to host my database, one that does support MySQL. Can I install my vB on a server that does not support MySQL and point to the database on another server? If so, any pointers on how to set it up would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike Souza

Yes. Some shared hosts use separate servers for databases and filesystems so this is possible.

In the config.php file, under 'servername', you'd enter the database address given you by your host (this may look like db125.hostingcompany.com or similar)
