    Trouble Upgrading Forum

Hi, I've attempted to upgrade my forums to the latest version of vBulletin.

All was going well up until I ran the upgrade script in the browser (Having already backed up existing files, moved new files/folders into directory, renamed config.php, etc).

When processing step 1 of 5 in the upgrade system, I am greeted by the following error:

    Code:
Step 1) Miscellaneous table alterations 1/4

Altering moderatorlog Table (1 of 1)
Altering reputation Table (1 of 1)
Altering usergroupleader Table (1 of 1) Database error
The Championship Manager 2001/2002 Forums database has encountered a problem.

I am very confused, this is the first time I have attempted an upgrade and I had ensured I did everything according to the book.

I can't remember now! The home page of the forum is inaccessible as well now so I can't verify which version it was. I'm sure it was 2.9.1 or something similar though...

In the Members' Area, you will find specific instructions for upgrading from vBulletin 2.x to the latest versions. You need to run through each upgrade script.

Whereabouts are these specific instructions? I've had a look and can't find any of them. Besides, I wouldn't know where to start as I can't remember the original version of vBulletin that I originally had?

Go into the Members' Area and click "Download vBulletin" and just above the license agreement is a link to the upgrade instructions.

Found it, thanks. I'm a little confused though because although there's a logn list of each vB version with upgrade php files. Where am I meant to download them from?

Am I supposed to download the full package for each version? Then go through each one starting from the earliest version I think I had and once that's done, run through the latest version upgrade again?

Sorry to appear rather clueless but as I said, I've not done any of this before.

That's alright, mate - we've all been stuck at one point or another.

You don't need to download them. In your downloaded vBulletin package, go to your /install/ folder and you'll see the upgrade scripts in there. It's automatically included in the vBulletin package.

You need to run the upgrade scripts from your original (2.x) files. Then upload the new version of vBulletin, and run those upgrade scripts.

EDIT: If you don't have the original files anymore, you can download them from the bottom of the upgrade instructions page. The upgrade files are available in there.

Ohhhh, I see now! Right then, I'll give it a go.

I'll report back later to let you know how I got in. Thanks again
