    Sharing our Cloud vBuletin url?

I have a question about our Cloud url .... lots of letters and numbers followed by v.bulletin.net

We have set up CNAME DNS on our domain to forward our "Community" sub domain to the above link.

Occasionally we have problems if the server for our domain/hosting is down, people cannot access the forum via community.ourdomain.co.uk but it works fine using our vBulletin url.

Would there any reason NOT to given people our long vBulletin link to use on such occasions until the servers are back up and running?

Is there a reason you can't set up the CNAME at the domain registrar? Then it won't matter if your hosting provider is down or not. The DNS system is redundant and very rarely has any sort of outage.

However, there is no issue with sharing the vbulletin.net URL as a backup. If the CNAME doesn't work though the site probably won't load correctly. The user may also get errors if they try to post because the vbulletin.net URL wouldn't be allowed for security reasons.

      Thanks so much Wayne.

It might be possible to do it at the domain registrar, I will have a look and see if it's an option.
