    You should be able to use HTML in the forum description...

    <img href="imagepath/image.jpg" height="60" width="420">

    Is this not working for you?

        Make sure your user has the "Can Use HTML" permissions.

            Usergroups -> Channel Permissions

            Home Channel.
            Administrators
            Can Use HTML

            If other channels have custom permissions, you will need to edit them individually so this permission gets changed.
