Flagging Post button - suddenly stopped working

A user told me he got the error he is 'unable to create post', when trying to flag a post. I duplicated the error. I found out that I had to turn on the 'Can Comment' field, in usergroup permissions.

But we don't want to use the Comment box in a thread, now we have to? Did this change in the last update? Or what am I missing. If I put the 'Can Comment' field to No, users can't flag post.

I know this just suddenly changed, not sure what causes it though.

    Anyone else have this happen?

I found an old thread that has a CSS code that hides the Comment box, so users won't see it to use it. I can do that, but doesn't seem like I should have to, feels more like a glitch just happened.

Flash04jv This is a valid bug, I can reproduce it.

I have created a bug report for it: VBV-17095

Our forum has been slow to respond, or been timing out since about noon today. Any chance this is related? Being worked on?

It wouldn't affect a live site if it was. Any fix would go into the next release.

I received a notification that my Cloud site went off line momentarily around this time. I'll monitor the situation and bring it up with the developers if there is a larger problem. They also get notified if there are server problems.

Sounds good. It seems to be loading better for me/us now.

Our flagging is also not working. I did change the comment option in settings to see if this solves the problem on a temporary basis. Please let us know once the bug is fixed.

The flag / comments issue is logged as http://tracker.vbulletin.com/browse/VBV-17095 which will be fixed in the next version, 5.3.1. Probably a couple of months away from release (VERY approximate), once it has been released all Cloud sites will be upgraded.
