  • Cloud service with GMail Mail Server

Hi, I use the cloud service since a few months ago and we use the gmails server without a problem because our domain has the Google Apps option. Unexpectedly, the mails stopped being send, and after the intervention of the support team, it was solved. A few weeks ago, the service go down again. Now the support team has no idea how to solve it and they ask me to send them the correct configuration.

It seems to be that I'm the only costumer trying to make Google Apps and the VBulletin Cloud work together. If someone can help, my current configuration is the following:

    1.- SMTP host: smtp.gmail.com
    2.- SMTP port: 587
    3.- SMTP username: user@mydomain.com
    4.- SMTP password: ********
    5.- SMTP Secure connection: TLS

But the error the support team report is the following:

    ***
    Pertinent SMTP Settings
    SMTP: tls://smtp.gmail.com:587
    SMTP Username:
    user@mydomain.com
    Help Results
The mailing function returned an error while trying to send the mail.
The following errors were outputted by PHP when attempting to send mail:

Warning: fsockopen(): unable to connect to tcp://smtp.gmail.com:587 (Connection timed out) in .../vb/mail/smtp.php on line 181 Warning: Unable to connect to SMTP server in .../vb/mail/smtp.php on line 147
    ***

I don't know if it will help, but I found something might be related, I've applied this configuration and waiting a few hours to be propagated:

Go to manage your domain -> Google Apps -> Gmail -> Advanced Settings and tick the "Allow per-user outbound gateways" option.

If there's any other costumer that has VBulletin and Google Apps working togheter, I would really apreciatte your help.

    Thanks

I don't know if it will make a difference but I use gmail on a non-vBcloud forum and I use post 465 and SSL instead of TLS. Wouldn't hurt to try.

Thanks Joe, I'm sending this information to VB Support. I'll come back with the results.
