Assistance with config

Hi all, new here. Looking for guidance on configuration options. I am setting up a forum with around 12 channels. Each has sub forums. I am wanting to disable auto registration so users have to be approved to gain access. I also want to give them access to only one channel initially and have the moderator for that channel grant the access. Each Chanel will have different moderators.

I'm looking to understand the best way to set up the security so the moderators approve new users access to their channel and the user only sees channels he has access to.

An ordinary moderator cannot approve memberships, this can only be done by admins or super-moderators.
Other than that, setting this up is fairly straightforward.

Thanks Mark. So I assume I would go for a super moderator. Do I set up 2 user groups per forum? One for normal users and one for the super moderators? So 12 channels = 24 user groups.
