I'm new to all of this so apologize in advance if this is a silly question or answered elsewhere...(I'm not even sure of the verbiage to search by) This said, let me describe what I'm trying to do..
I'm running the latest version of vB Cloud and am creating what I hope will be a "one-stop" forum for digital amateur radio enthusiasts. Currently we have a Yahoo! Forum where folks from around the world sign up to converse and get information. But there are also countless regional groups that have their own Yahoo! Forums as well, offering local information
When someone signs up in our new vB forum they will become a member of the forum overall. The vBulletin Forum will replace the global Yahoo! Forum, but I'd like to create "sub-forums" where local groups can abandon their Yahoo Forums and migrate to our new platform.
In order for this to happen I'd need to configure vBulletin in a way that when a user signs up they can "select" which "sub-forums" they want to be part of and give a moderator of the sub-forum the ability to approve or not approve their membership. I'm assuming this is possible but how do I configure the software to do this? I'm not necessarily looking to make these sub-forums "private" but I do think the moderator should have control of who gets membership and I'd also like to give the moderator the ability to send an email to all members of their subforum if they choose..(at least to those members that will allow email to be sent by how they configure their CPS)
Can someone point me in the right direction. Is what I'm trying to do considered a "group" or what?
Again, apologize for what's probably a very basic question.
Thanks in advance.
