Had a member bring this one to my attention. Censored words are filtered in posts, such as f***k. However, when hovering over a link to a thread where the OP has a censored word, the word is NOT filtered and is visible in the pop-up.

I can think of a temporarily solution for this. The solution is optimal for non-Cloud sites but there is a workaround for Cloud but not as efficient as non-Cloud.Comment

I did not realize the software was dynamically replacing the censored word with the "***" placeholders. I just assumed when they hit POST, it modified the original post. As a moderator, when I go in to edit the post, it shows the ****.Comment

The uncensored words should be kept untouched in the database. That's why we're seeing the bug in thread preview. If they're being replaced in edit mode then it's another bug.Comment
-
Actually, in older versions censored words were always just censored, on save. Which IMO is how it should be done in 5.Comment

That makes sense on one side, but what if you wanted to not censor the words you previously censored? You wouldn't be able to restore those words anymore.Comment

I think we are getting in the weeds here. As a Administrator, when I see the term "Censored Words" I don't expect those words to ever appear on the site. How the words get replaced on the back end is none of my concern. I get a message from a member who is hovering over post topics and get slammed by an F-bomb and he wastes no time letting me know it.Comment

As Wayne says, there's nothing support can do about this at this time I'm afraid...it's how the software is coded, and it requires code changes to alter the behaviour.MARK.B

I developed a quick temporary fix on this issue. Please see "Topic Preview Censor Fix" in my signature. This is not applicable on Cloud though, but there is a workaround for it.Comment

I wish we could add these hooks in vbCloud!
For the tutorial's Step 3, do this instead:
Code:</script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <!-- insert here the Topic Preview Censor fix code that would have been in the Hook template --> <script>
