I am sure this is possible through permissions, but I thought I would ask first. Is it possible to set a forum so that it is only visible to members of a specific usergroup? For example, a member with a Paid Subscription would have access to forums that others would not.
Basically, here is my issue:
I have a forum for Off-Topic discussions. Some members get "offended" by some of the content which can get political, even though I try to moderate that as much as possible. I would like to have it so that a member has to SUBSCRIBE or JOIN that forum, or take some other physical action to put them into a secondary usergroup so that I can control access to the forum.
I realize I can do this with a Group, but that is a bit clunky for this application. I know the Paid Subscription has the ability to change the members' usergroup status, but I don't necessarily want to charge for the privilege of accessing this forum.
There is probably a mechanism in vB that will do what I want, but I just have not figured it out yet. Basically, I need a way for a member to Opt-In to a specific forum.
