    New Posts

Has anyone worked out how to emulate the "New Posts" function of previous incarnations of VB? It's the single most important navigation tool available and its replacement "Latest Topics" is in no way adequate in its native state, but I'm sure it has the flexibility to get near. I just can't work out how.

Ideally, I'd like to place a link on the navigation bar that would show all the new and unread posts since the member's last visit.

Your best bet at the moment is to use "Today's Posts" coupled with database-based thread marking.

New Topics is a bit buggy, Today's Posts works perfectly.

Using database-based thread marking, as soon as thread is read, it shows up unbolded in Today's Posts.

By default the Today's Posts tab only shows to guests. I hide the New Topics link (by making it visible only to banned users, or similar), and set Today's Posts to be visible to all usergroups.

(You could delete New Topics entirely but then if it gets fixed it won't be available and you'll need to obtain the code for the link somehow).

It looks pretty much what I'm looking for. Thanks again.
