  • We need to be able to create/modify /robots.txt file in VB Cloud

It's a basic SEO option. It's the first freakin' thing that search engines do when they crawl a site.

There is currently an open Bug report for the Cloud development team to add this. I don't have an estimated time on when it would be implemented.

      Hi Kernmedia,

First congratz on the first post.

I have a question if you're willing to respond, would you be so kind to tell me how important this robot.tx file is? Ive been trying to get my forum off the ground for a few days and im curious if this robot.tx file isn't installed does it hold your forum back from going anywhere?

At the moment, as Wayne mentioned, you cannot add a robots.txt file on the Cloud platform.

It tells a bot visiting your site what can be indexed or not indexed. If the bot actually cares and parses it. Most don't and there is no requirement that they do so.

A better way to get your site into the search engines and get your site indexed is to sign up the Search Engine's Webmaster tools and submit your sitemap.xml files. You can generate these in the AdminCP at the bottom of the left navigation.
