    Newbie wondering which host... again.

Hi all. I am a total newbie when it comes to building and starting a web forum. However, I have been a participant on web forums for over a decade. I have finally decided to build one or two of my own.

The ideas for forums have been around a long time and have purchased domain names long ago, but I have always put it off as it seems too damn complicated to even get started. Yesterday I got inspired and jumped in with both feet. I bought a license to vBulletin 5 Connect (as vBulletin is the only forum software I will consider based on my years as a user) and I signed up for a year's worth of hosting over at Godaddy.com Then I tried to get it going...

Needless to say, I ended back up on the internet looking for answers, which led me here, which led me to the bad news about Godaddy. Fortunately, it was pretty easy to cancel my Godaddy accounts and get my money back today. That leaves me with where to go now?

I have used Google and also the search function here. I've also searched on some of my regular forums as people there seem to know about web hosting as well. Sadly, there seems to be no clear stand out winner, or dominate recommendation for any particular one service. It seems that each service has a fan or two and a hater or two.

About my planned site/s- I am going to build at least one automotive type forum, possible two if the first doesn't kill me. I have no idea if they will be popular and take off or not. For this reason, I'd like to keep the monthly fees to a minimum and upgrade later as needed. Most seem to be shared "unlimited" plans with reasonable prices, however I know some here have said the "unlimited" plans really aren't and they aren't that good. Anyhow, to try to narrow this down, listed below servers (in no particular order) that either came up first on a Google search for vBulletin hosting, or got good reviews, or were mentioned here. Some claim to be specialists in vBulletin. Any feed back, positive, or negative on any of them would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for reading all the way through this!

Sites that you suggested above, I used but to be honest I had to change to new hosting provider because of their hosting problems such as arvixe, bluehost or hostgator..

I would recommend you some VPS hosting providers from here
This forum is dedicated for web hosting companies advertisements and special offers. Only VPS hosting offers are allowed here.

They will give you good specs with reasonable price.

    Hope it helps!

Thanks for the response! Just curious as to what problems you had with the more visible hosting providers that I posted? Is it just that you need VPS and the others don't offer it? The link you provided feels like I would be going down a whole other rabbit hole. I mean, which one of these companies that I've never heard of before and can be located anywhere in the world should I choose? Doing your due diligence is proving to be frustrating and arduous task for a newbie.

I currently use Siteground. It took me quite some time to choose a host. Siteground is honest with what you'll get out of them. Yes, the whole 'Unlimited' talk is very misleading, especially for the newbies.

If you're wiling to pay a little bit I would suggest Siteground. I've never had a problem with them and loads extremely fast. They are known for their amazing customer service.

I hope you find the right host for your upcoming community.

        Best of luck!

We use siteground and have been 100% happy with them. System resources are good, support is great and it's really fast. We do use the VPS (grow bigger plan) and it's been stable and without issue.

It is a long story and I don't want to show all here on a public forum...it could be problems on downtimes, slow loading, bad support...etc

Sorry I could not show exactly a provider, which will make me as promoting for someone.
You need to check some and find any best ones that suit to your requirements : )
