Most people will recommend Nimbus hosting because they have the absolute best customer service and everything just works perfect. Contact Tim at Nimbus hosting and ask if you have questions.

Unless you need root access, it is better to go with a premium shared host, instead of a cheap VPS. WiredTree / Liquidweb / URLJect etc are good hosts, but not based in Australia. If you have most of your traffic from Oz, it is better to have local host and probably you can ask the question at a local webmaster site.

I can vouche for URLJet. They provide excellent service and support and specialize in vBulletin hosting.
