Im on VPS and I would like that you suggest me a Dedicated server

    Hi

I have a forum with higt traffic with 700 online members at the same time ( attachment and images exisit)
Im having some problems with the VPS instead of beeing a large VPS : 4GB ram + 4 CPU cores . ( some databses errors with Mysql gone away )
I would like to transfer my website to a dedicated server .
But I would like to know if it will be ideal and enought for the forum which recieve more than 25.000 unique/day .

    here is the
    1 option :

    Core i3 2100 3.1ghz

    Supermicro server
    2GB 4GB RAM
    500GB disk
    2TB traffic
    IPMI
    107$/month

    2nd option :

    Xeon 3430 2.4ghz
    Supermicro server
    4GB RAM
    320GB disk
    2TB traffic
    IPMI
    107$/month

Are those a good option for my forum ? it will be enought to support the hight traffic of the site ?
any other suggestion will be welcome

    Thank you

Before moving servers have you put in an optimization request?

I would do that before anything.

I think the configurations mentioned are too low for a site of that kind of traffic. You would need good dedicated servrer with dual / quad processors - Opteron/ Xeon and preferably 4GB - 6 GB RAM. That is from my experience, managing a forum with 1000+ users online at a time. Another option is to have a separate database server. 700 users online is good traffic and you need a good server to avoid sluggish performance.

The key to any decent vB hosting is SAS (SCSI) drives on a minimum of RAID 1.
