    VPS For Vbulletien forum

    Hi,

we are using VPS for our site since last 2 month, back in august we have

    VPS server level 1

    1. 768 Mb Ram
    2. 1.13 GHZ
    3. Bandwidth 500GB

    and our site

    1. Daily unique visitors around 12,000 - 15,000
    2. total members 5,000
    3. total threads 20,000
    4. bandwidth around 400GB/mon

whenever we have 400 or 400+ users, server gives internal error and than site goes offline for some hours.

now in this month host guy asked us to move your site to higher vps.now we have this

    VPS server level 2

    1. 1344 Mb Ram
    2. 1.98 GHZ
    3. Bandwidth 1000GB

our traffic is almost same as i mentioned earlier (12,000 - 15,000 per day)

again same here whenever we have 400 or 400+ user, 500 internal server and site goes offline.Than he asked us to install memcached and we payed for it, but problem remains same, now he is asking us to give me your admin account so he can check memcached setting there.

Plz guide us,what should we do?

as we are from Pakistan and using local hosting company, which further have connection to some USA based companies.

A vps, properly configured for your site should work without issue...but some things could make the dedicated a better choice

You don't mention disk space needed or plugins used or disk io and from the total visitors mentioned I assume you could frequently see 400 concurrent users

You may want to head over to Server Configuration forum https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...-Configuration for a tune up and optimisation of your settings. Start a new thread in that forum with info asked at https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/show...sts-13-07-2011. If you have CentOS/RHEL or Debian OS based server you can also use mysqlmymonlite.sh to gather all info required.

400/500 users online are too much for a VPS. You need tgo get a good dedicated server. Get 4GB RAM, what you have is totally insufficient.
