    mysql startup error when trying to install Vbulletin

    Hi, i have been having trouble installing VBulletin on Mysql. I have tried for a while now and cant get it installed... can someone help me with the error please

    When i got to www.mywebsitename.com/install/install.php
    i get this error:

    The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in the includes/config.php file

    Error description: mysqli_real_connect() [function.mysqli-real-connect]: (HY000/2002): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) /home/content/23/7720423/html/includes/class_core.php on line 1317

    Can someone help me fix this! I have no clue what to do, and im a beginner at this trying to learn, so some simple instructions would be greatly appreciated!

      Ok thanks, its says the config.php could be wrong, or mysql has crashed.
      How do i know which it could be? I will call my host if fully necessary but i'd like to try and solve me problem here first.
      my error was:
      The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in the includes/config.php file

      Error description: mysqli_real_connect() [function.mysqli-real-connect]: (HY000/2002): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) /home/content/23/7720423/html/includes/class_core.php on line 1317

      What should i look for to correct in the config.php?
      or do you think my MySQL crashed?
      I am really struggling with this, some additional help would be greatly appreciated
      Thanks

          Has this changed for vBulletin 4.2.3 Patch Level 2 (yes, I know this is a five and a half-year old topic)?

            No. Still valid even in vBulletin 5.
