URLJet Reviews

I am starting to look for a new host and I have heard positive reviews of URLJet.com. I know they are a little more pricey than some hosts but I also understand they offer more expertise than other host do in regards to vbulletin management.

Can anyone provide any current/recent reviews of this host?

My forum isn't all that big: 200k posts, 1200 members, roughly 5+ members on at a time with 20-30 guests viewing.

Which shared option would be best for me?

Used them for many years now.
I pay my bill every year, and that's it, my Forum is a little bigger than yours but it just works as it should with url jet
I find that a good host is one you never have to contact, your sites works and that's it, this is why I use url jet, it works
But if you do need to contact them, they are very quick, they are experts with the vB software and do everything they can as fast as they can.

You won'r regret using them

Your traffic is low, the smallest package should be good enough. If you do not mind the price, URLJet is a great option, no question about that. A specialist VB host is way too better for webmasters with low technical skills / time, typical shared hosts can't match their service.

I have a very small board, and speed is astounding (but apparently its just as good on blogger boards). Free vBulletin upgrades and installation makes me almost never remember they exist apart from when I receive the bill and send them the files for a vBulletin upgrade. The support is unmatched, even if something isn't their problem they will help. Worth every single penny.

I don't mind performing vB upgrades myself (have done so for many years now) but what makes me particularly interested in this host is that they specialize in vbulletin forum hosting. I am looking for a host that provides great technical support and will help me maximize my site performance and speed with mysql and other settings.

A question I have is: What is Raid 10 Disk Space? I don't know if my current host has raid 10..... but I would have only 10G of disk space for all files? I believe on my current host I have close to 100G of space (but I don't come close to filling that up)

Another question I thought of....

Why would I need/want a dedicated IP address? vBPro doesn't have that but Gold and Platinum do.

I've used them for a while. Great speed, great service, and if you have a problem, the owner will call you personally and help you out. The support ticket system is great and response time is super fast.

4 stars, 2 thumbs!

Raid 10 means that the same data is stored on multiple drives to both increase read/write performance while at the same time providing redundancy if a drive fails.

In simple terms RAID 10 is a combination to two or more RAID levels i.e. RAID 1 + RAID 0. It requires 4 storage disks using which mirroring is established for redundancy and performance.
I doubt if you'd really need that large volume of disk, would rather suggest you to look for performance, disk is something that can be upgraded later (provided you have a dedicated server).

Having a dedicated IP address can help you stay away from later issues such as IP blacklisting etc. This is one of the common problems that people face with a shared IPs.

Hey Chase,

Joe D. had it right....Raid 10 stripes data across multiple drives and pretty much halves the space available...Say you have 10X300GB drives...Raid 10 would leave you with 1.5TB usable space.
We sacrifice space for 2 reasons.
1) Reliability...A couple of drives can fail and the server still functions, not as fast but it functions. We can also hot swap in a replacement, meaning we can swap drives without stopping the server.
2) Speed..Like it or not, writing data is slow...more drives equals faster writes and smaller IO or wait percentages.

and there's the backups we maintain for 30 days

There ya have it...no magic but, it does cost more to do it our way.
Greg

Chase (and anyone that is using URLjet), how has it been going for you in the last several months?

Thanks.

Maybe not getting a reply about URLjet is an answer to my question about their quality. On top of that, I've written 3 emails to their sales department in the last 2 weeks and haven't had a single reply to my questions about vbulletin migration.
