Need help find the right hosting company

    Hi everyone.

I need help moving my sites from a one-man hoster who is technically astute, but has stopped returning my calls months ago. I’d be happy to pay someone a small consulting fee to help me find a reliable hosting company that offers 24 by 7 support. I’d like to move my 5 web sites and vBulletin in the next few weeks.

    Here are the particulars:

    - Currently running 3.8.x vBulletin. I’d like the hosting company to also apply critical patches as they are released.

    - I have global users, but no more than 50 concurrent users. Performance and uptime are important and need at least 99.9% uptime.

    - I have custom spam controls, but need even more robust spam and security measures for VBulletin and the other sites running WordPress.

    - If there are outages day, night or weekend, they need to respond. I can’t afford outages that last half a day (duh).

I support patients in their medical research, so it’s really important for me to find a better hoster than what I have now. Thank you for any assistance, please PM me if you can help in any way.

I've never used them (yet) but I've heard good things about URLJet, who specialize in hosting vBulletin forums.

CBIWeb, that's helpful, thank you. jtech, I'll check this company out. Let me know if you want to share any information on my hosting research.

I've been using jaguarpc.com for several years and am very pleased with both the plans and the 24/7 customer support/tech support. Very little downtime if any at all and then it's usually for server maintenance/upgrade and usually 15 minutes tops. I have both shared and semi-dedicated accounts.

          EDIT: fixed link

            Hi,

URLJet have taken hosting to whole new levels lately, they will surpass anything you will find from any other company. Firstly, they boost your sites speed by using LiteSpeed instead of Apache for serving your pages. Secondly, they provide you with dedicated vBulletin support - this includes modifications and upgrades (you do have to submit a ticket if you require an upgrade to be done), they do these within their stated timescale.

Spam can be prevented from ever reaching your forum or any other script, with their latest advances - most spam is caught before it even reaches your vBulletin, this saves you on bandwidth and server resources. Your data is also backed up hourly, not daily like standard hosting providers.

They may seem a bit more expensive than your normal hosting companies but then you are receiving a service that surpasses others by miles. Definitely, worth paying that little extra for if you want hosting with a difference.

URLJet is obviously a very good VB specialist. If you find them expensive, you may consider hostgator.
